Big Feast are looking to appoint a hardworking and organised freelance Technical Manager to support the autumn tour of Jackie Hagan’s award-winning new show ‘This Is Not A Safe Space’

Job Title: Techincal Manager (Touring)
Terms: £1200 (£120 per day x 10 days) plus travel days, freelance. Accommodation will be booked and paid for by Big Feast. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed subject to agreement.

We are looking for a stage manager with experience of touring to oversee all technical aspects of the production including lighting and sound. Therefore, the role would suit someone with a wide range of technical skills. Some operation may be required. Duties include:

  • Liaising between the creative team and venue production teams
  • Ensuring that Jackie’s access needs are understood and accommodated for by the venue
  • Driving the set to and from venues, or organising it to be couriered
  • Supervising get ins / get outs
  • Calling the show, and in some instances operate light or sound if an operator isn’t provided by the venue
  • Completing show reports for each performance




  • Experience of production relights and programming lighting desks.
  • Proven ability to program and operate Qlab
  • Rigging Lighting and Sound equipment experience
  • Ability to interpret ground plans and technical specifications and adapt production parameters accordingly to ensure a high standard of technical presentation
  • Previous experience of studio scale touring
  • Experience of liaising with venues in regard of technical requirements and F.O.H procedures
  • A valid UK driver’s license


  • An understanding of access, especially in regards to the making and distribution of contemporary performance
  • Experience of working with marginalised communities and vulnerable adults
